Home Remedy to Reduce Dark Patches on the Face

Buttermilk

This rich liquid is effective at reducing the appearance of dark patches on your skin without the harshness of citrus juices, which makes it especially beneficial for people with sensitive skin.

Mix 4 teaspoons of buttermilk with 2 teaspoons of tomato juice and apply them to your skin using a cotton ball or your hand. Allow these ingredients, which both have skin lightening capabilities, to dry on your skin before rinsing off with water.

Milk itself can be a beneficial treatment for dark spots on the skin because of the lactic acid contained within. It can be applied in much the same way with a soaked cotton ball. Simply leave it on for 10 minutes or so and rinse off completely. Milk can also be mixed with honey to further treat your skin. These applications are most effective when used over a period of 4 to 6 weeks.

Oats

Reach for the rolled oats in your cupboard and grind them up to a powder. Mix this with skin lightening lemon juice or milk until it forms a rough paste.

Apply the mixture as a mask to your entire face and neck and allow it to dry on. This will both help you exfoliate unsightly dead skin, but also reduce the appearance of black spots. After keeping it on as a mask for a while, use warm water to scrub it off gently.

This treatment can be done 1 to 2 times each week for maximum effectiveness.

Almonds

Soak 10 almonds in milk for about 8 to 10 hours. When done soaking, peel off the skin and grind them up into a powder. Add 1 teaspoon of sandalwood powder and half a teaspoon of honey, which is always beneficial to facial skin. Mix together to form a paste and spread it across your face like a mask. Leave it for half an hour before rinsing off thoroughly with warm water.

Sandalwood

As mentioned above, sandalwood also has wonderful restorative properties for the skin and can help reduce the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin tones.

Combine sandalwood powder, glycerin and either milk, honey or rosewater to form a thick paste. Spread this mixture over the parts of your face where the dark latches are visible and leave it on for several minutes. Rinse it off well with warm water and pat dry. You can repeat this procedure every day until your skin achieves its desired luminescence.

Potato

What could be easier than reaching into your cupboard for a white potato? These healthy roots are not only good for your body but are an excellent way to reduce the look of dark spots on your facial skin.

The simplest method is to cut thin slices of potato and simply lay them on the affected skin areas for several minutes before rinsing with warm water.

Alternatively, great a raw white potato and mix it with honey to make a soothing facial mask. Spread this evenly across your face and let it sit for a while before rinsing it off.

Some women have reported they have also used tomatoes over a period of 3 to 4 weeks to reduce the appearance of dark spots and blotches on their face.
